This past weekend I was doubly blessed. Not only did I get to cross something off my bucket list but I had the opportunity to spend time with some of the most inspiring women I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Ever since I moved back to LA, I’ve wanted to attend Sarah Horowitz Beginner Perfume Class. Every time it’s come up, previous obligations have prevented me from going. This time I had nothing on my calendar and there was one opening left for the session. Ironically, I almost didn’t make it because we ended up in Urgent Care with mom the night before but thankfully were released with a Rx and sent home in great spirits and great health.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Sarah, you simply must. She is one of the most beautiful women you will ever meet (inside and out). Her heart and soul radiate love, peace, and happiness. Talk about someone living her bliss. Sarah is also the nose behind many of today’s niche fragrances. I won’t name names but trust me on this.
There were only 7 in our class, a delightful collection of mothers, daughters, and a couple of us grandmothers. The more we chatted and laughed, the more we chatted and laughed. I’m pretty sure in school we’d all have been sent to the Dean’s office. Sarah on the other hand was quite gracious with us and joined in on our joyfulness. The first half of the day we were engaged with the history of perfume, Sarah’s history and explanation of notes, blends and everything Perfume 101. After lunch we broke out our beautiful Perfumer’s Kit and began exploring and creating. Oh what fun we had. We were given two fragrance challenges and I think we all exceeded our own personal expectations. I am still on a fragrant high today.
I felt so at home with these lovely ladies, as if I had known them all my life. There’s definitely a certain ease when you’re with your tribe.
I’m looking forward to more fragrant adventures with these ladies and who knows… hopefully you’ll be seeing their collections (and mine too) at Beauty Cafe in the very near future.
