I love photographing mother’s with their children. Sadly, I don’t get to do it much. Generally, moms want photos of their children only or if they do want to hop in the photo, they want to make sure dad is in the photo too. Don’t get me wrong, I love family portraits and I think they are important, but when you look back at all the photos of you children growing up, how many of them are of just you and your kids? Think about how many photos you are not even in? It’s sort of sad to realize that we as women sacrifice everything for our children, even to the point of sometimes forgetting our own existence in their lives. I think it’s extremely important then that you take time, even just once a year and take some photos with you and your kids. Save the family photos for holiday cards in the fall-right now it should be about you-and about the bond and connection you share with your children.
In my photography business, I am running a Mother’s Day special because I want moms to take this time for themselves and do something for themselves that they will look back and cherish. You will not only have fond memories of getting photos taken with your children, but your children will also be appreciative years later. Do something for yourself. Get your photo taken with your children. Stop making excuses about how you need to lose weight or that you have nothing to wear. Your children will not care about any of that when the go back to look at these photos.
Capture the memories that you share with your children every day by taking photos with your kids this Mother’s Day.
