I know! I know!!
Finally at 53 years of age I finally have the answer to the age old riddle of where do the socks go?
Ever since we moved in to our new (to us) home Chris has been complaining that his socks have gone missing. We’ve torn this place apart looking for them and they were no where to be found. They’re not in his sock drawer, under the bed, clothes basket, they’re not in the washing machine and I certainly check the dryer every time I pull out the dry clothes. Somehow since we moved into the new place they’ve grown legs.
But today the mystery was finally solved and I’m sure you heard me scream this morning when I found the missing socks!
We have an older but gently used top of the line Electrolux Front Loader Washer/Dryer. I swear my clothes have never been so clean since we started using them. I love the Fast 21 minute wash!! I’ve been washing since I was a teenager and I swear these machines wash and dry clothes the best ever… so good that you’ll actually notice your socks go missing.
So this morning I was on the phone with Jackie while I was cleaning out the lint tray. I put it back in and went back to our conversation. When the dryer chimed I went over and noticed that a rag was hanging onto the lint tray. Hmmm I thought that was odd and then noticed that because I hadn’t been paying attention I didn’t put the lint tray back in properly. Yes, the lint tray can actually go in differently and not get properly seated and if you put it in wrong there is a HUGE gaping hole just perfect for a sock or two to get through. I decided to take advantage and clean out the lint in the hole and when I flashed my iPhone light down the hole, I saw a plethora of socks!! OK there were 3 pairs (6 socks) and two rags down there. Can you imagine? So I grabbed a bug swatter and one by one pulled them out.
So my dear friends next time your socks go missing or hell just to amuse yourself if you pull out the lint tray completely see what lurks at the bottom of your dryer. One of the wonderful gifts that our landlord blessed us with was the Lint Eater and it cleans out our dryer lint vent.
