Last week I had a stomach bug and spent a couple of days praying to the porcelain god. Ugh you know that feeling… and since then I’ve been a bit more careful about what I eat. To be honest, we eat pretty healthy in this house but I think there is always room for improving one’s diet. First item to go was sugar.
I haven’t had a bowl of Frosted Flakes in almost 10 days now. That’s a long time because I’ve eaten Frosted Flakes for over 50 years. What’s even crazier than that… I haven’t had a cup of coffee either. Coffee, the blood of champions, the fluid that gets all started in the morning. That little cup of heaven that gives me the strength to get through the later part of the day. Not one drop in 10 days.
Why would I do something so foolish like that when I love it so much? I can’t stand the taste of black coffee and without cream/milk and sugar, well it’s just not the same. Sorry coffee purists. I just can’t… the perfect cup in the world to me is Dunkin Donuts when they make it with cream and sugar. Swoon. So if I can’t have it like that I just can’t have it… at least not today.
My biggest dilemma is what to eat for breakfast. I went to the grocery store and really read the labels. Have you noticed that just about everything has sugar in it? It’s crazy. Other than Corn Flakes (which is GMO) every cereal including your healthy granola, has sugar. Hell some of the granola’s have more sugar than my Frosted Flakes. Let’s talk yogurt. Have you seen the sugar content in yogurt? Holy F! I did find Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt which has 0 sugar and it’s quite tasty. It’s made with Stevia. Speaking of which Stevia, is not too shabby but I still don’t like it in my coffee.
But here’s where it gets crazy, I think I have more energy. Is this even possible? I wake up have a glass of water and breakfast sans FF and start my day. I haven’t even had a 3pm crash either. Things that make you go hmmmmm….
Anyway, I’d love to hear what y’all have for breakfast and some of your healthier snack ideas.
