I had the pleasure to get to meet some fabulous women recently who run and own Pivot a Body work and Gyrotonic Studio. This was my first experience with Gyrotonic’s and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. Gyrotonic’s is a combination of several different disciplines that include yoga, stretching and Pilates as well as it’s own techniques and methods. It’s a perfect combination of exercise and physical therapy making it very healing as well as physically demanding.
I know I say it often but I really do love my job. I love the fact that I get to get out and meet new people doing really cool things. Karen from Pivot is no exception. She’s really cool and personable and can move her body like an acrobat. It was mesmerizing to watch these ladies move their bodies in ways you generally only get to see at a performance and many of the woman who do Gyrotonic’s are in fact performers or dancers.
With that said, Gyrotonics is something the ladies assure me that anyone can do and in fact they have many women who come in who have never done Gyrotonic’s before and excel. Gyrotonics is great for the whole body, providing oxygen to ligaments and stretches to muscles. Even just watching the ladies in their exercises the room filled with “oohs and ahhs” as they stretched out their backs and opened their hips.
It made me want to try it as well for as many of you may know I have suffered from chronic back pain for years. I am lucky that the studio is close but if you don’t live in the Seattle area, check out Gyrotonics near you.
