I have had a cold for the past few days and it’s been one where it’s been really kicking my butt. I have been exceptionally tired and finding myself needing a nap to recover. There’s this place in time and space that exist, right before you go to sleep but you’re still awake. Your unconscious is not really clear and often times many bizarre thoughts and feelings really become vivid for me during this time. I was in this space recently and I was overcome with the very strong smell of my grandmother’s signature fragrance Paris By Yves Saint Laurent. My grandmother has been gone for almost a year now, but that smell was as strong as if she was standing over me at that moment. I like to think it was her way of telling me that she loves me.
It’s funny how smells can remind you of people or in this case, even the memory of a smell. On the contrast, I have never really had my own signature fragrance as I tend to stay away from strong smells. When I do find a fragrance I love it’s a more natural or light smell that has a smell of something that is edible. Enter the most heavenly thing you’ll ever smell in your life! Seriously Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s fragrances will knock you off your feet. Even for a non-fragrance lover myself, I have to say I cannot stop smelling this stuff. It’s not overpowering at all but you every time I wear it (which has been every day since I got it) I seriously keep putting my face into my shirt to take another sniff. It’s that good. It’s kind of like vanilla ice-cream and hot donuts. Yeah-see now you want it on your body too! Seriously this stuff is amazing! Go check it out along with their other fragrances, you will NOT be dissapointed!
What fragrances make you think of the people you loved growing up? What’s your signature smell?
